The 11th Shanghai World Grand Wushu Festival
Kendo Tournament, Regulations
 
1.           Organizer: Chinese Wushu Association

4.           Event Dates:  7th – 12th July, 2012

               TYournament Time :Morning 9am,              Afternoon: 2 pm         Evening:6:30 pm

5.           Venue:  Shanghai Oriental Sports Center
                                        The Crown of the Sea- Shanghai Oriental Sports Center
    
                        Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, nicked named “The Crown of the Sea”, is a multi purpose sports stadium in Shanghai’s Pudong Area. Adjacent to the Huang Pu River, each stadium building is located next to a lake, enjoying a panoramic river view.
 
The Shanghai Sports Center consists of a main stadium which can accommodate 15,000 views, an annex, a swimming pool that can hold 5,000 spectators and an out door high diving pool, also can hold 5,000 spectators. Total construction was 2 billion RMB, The stadium was completed late 2010, and was the main venue for the Shanghai World Swimming Competition in 2011.
 
The Shanghai Oriental Sports Center is build to satisfy world class events like NBA Pre-season matches, World Figure Skating Championship, World Men’s Basketball Championship, World Badminton championship, World Gymnastic Championship.

6.        Programs: Youth Individual ( Performance only), Men’s Individual, Women’s Individual.
7.           Qualifications:
a)   Individuals practicing kendo from any country and region.
b)   Players must have Dan (degree).
c)   A total of no more than 10 players are allowed from each country or region.
8.           Regulations
a)   Applying Shiai (Tournament) regulations of International Kendo Federation (FIK), there will be three divisions:
·        Youth Individual (refer to Primary School, Middle School and High School Kendokas)
·        Men’s Individual
·        Women’s Individual.
b)   Each court will be in the dimension of 11 x 11 sq. meters.
c)   Each match will be 4 minutes with 3 minutes for the Youth Division. the SAN-BON-SHOBU ( Three Points Scoring) system will apply.
d)   First Round of each division will be “Round Robin” elimination. Winners from each Round robin group will advance to the single round elimination.
e)   Round Robin elimination will consist of three people in each group where each player will compete with the other two players from the group. The player with the most win will advance to the next round.
f)    In case of a draw, a 2 minutes ENCHO (Match Extension) will be allowed. In case of another draw, the match will be decided by a referee’s Hantei (judgement).
g)   If two players’ winning matches are the same, the number of scores will decide the winner. If the number of scores is again the same, then a re-match will decide the winner.
h)   No time limit for ENCHO for quarter finals to finals, IPPON SHOBU (One Point Scoring) SYSTEM WILL APPLY.
9.           Titles and awards
a)   Medals will be presented to Individual Champions, Second Place, and Third Place (2).
b)   A Kandoshiyo Award (Bravery Award) will be rewarded to chosen players who entered the last 16 places in each event.
c)   Prize presentation will only be to Champions, Second Place, Third Place and Bravery Award winners.
10.       Registrations
a)   Players who wishes to participate in this tournament must fill out the application form and either e-mail, fax, or mail to The 11th Shanghai World Grand Wushu Festival Organizing Committee
b)   All Team Leaders, Coaches, Players must submit a hatless, colored registration photo, file size not less than 200k, resolution not less than 120 dpi, white background, each file must re-name with position and name( e.g., Coach :Barack Obama).
c)   First Registration: With immediate effect ( number of participants and event)
d)   Second Registration: Before 20th May 2012 (Names of participants and details).
11.       Fees:
1.   Transportation will not be provided.
2.   A registration fee of RMB250 per person.
3.   Package: RMB900 per person (Include Hotel accommodation, meals, airport to hotel transportation, hotel to Orient Sports Center transportation, hotel accommodation will be based on standard room), arranged by the organizing committee. (If there are special requests, extra charges will apply)
12.       Others
a)   The organizing committee will not be responsible for injuries and sickness during the event; all participants are advised to prepare their own insurance.
b)   Players with religious beliefs, please advice the organizing committee in advance of your requirements.
 
 
13.       The authority of interpretation belongs to the Organizing Committee of the 11th Shanghai World Grand Wushu Festival
